The Tale of the Shepherd Boy

At the center of the mesmerizing rolling fields, resided a boy named Shepherd. His existence was essentially pure, simple, and honest. His primary duty was essentially to care for his herd of sheep.

Their gentle baas and the rustling of the breezes through the solo tree on the peak were his main companions. Day upon day, guarding his wards imbued in him a sense of calm satisfaction.

Yet, there were occasional moments of isolation, when the shepherd boy would pine for companionship. In one such instance out of sheer boredom, the shepherd boy devised a mischievous scheme.

Tales of wild beasts hunting on sheep had been heard times and again in the town. So, the boy chose to used this fear and played a prank on the inhabitants.

One afternoon he dashed into the village screaming “Wolf! A wolf is preying on my sheep!” The terrified villagers sprinted up the hills for rescue but saw no wolf.

The boy laughed at the puzzle on their faces. This game persisted for a few more days. Yet, one noon, a real wolf actually come to prey the herd. The shepherd boy more info raced for help, shouting “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one responded.

Moreover, it emphasizes how trust once violated, is difficult to earn back. It's a story as pertinent today as it was in the past.
